Humans of an Dream Dearg: Cuisle Nic Liam

Stories from the faces behind an Dream Dearg.
Humans of an Dream Dearg: Cuisle Nic Liam

My name is Cuisle Nic Liam. I am a Project Officer with Conradh na Gaeilge and a master’s student in Queen’s University in Belfast.

I use the language on a daily basis; at home (with my dog, even), in university, in the workplace, and even socially. I was ten years old when the St. Andrew’s Agreement was signed, an Agreement which promised to implement an Irish Language Act based on the experience of the South and of Wales.

Yet still, at nearly 23 years of age, I, and many other Irish speakers throughout the six counties, are waiting on legislative protection for our language. This is not acceptable. A right delayed is a right denied.

The days of Irish being hidden are no longer an option, and we won’t stop until we receive the strong Act that we deserve. I stand completely with an Dream Dearg.  #AchtAnois #RedTodayAndEveryday
